Burglars make weekend heist at Graham High School

Thieves may find more profit in returning their loot than trying to pawn Graham High School computers stolen last weekend.
Graham Police investigators went to GHS Monday after staff discovered five desktop computers stolen from a classroom.
The break-in, explained Graham Chief of Police, occurred sometime between Friday evening and Monday morning. Because of nearby construction involving a $1.2 million renovation of the campus the building’s burglar alarm was temporarily turned off.

“At this time,” Nance said. “We can’t even find the point of entry.”
However, Nance considered the break-in to be the work of amateurs.
“It’s strange because desktop computers have no value anywhere,” Nance said. “They might be able to pawn them for maybe $10 a piece. Most pawnbrokers won’t take them.”
Meanwhile, during school announcements Tuesday GHS officials offered a $100 reward leading to the recovery of the computers. Investigators have a number of leads, Nance added, but collecting evidence from the scene is difficult since virtually everyone in the school has access to the area.
